In Feb, a bunch of ladies gathered from a total of 3 countries and numerous states and converged in FT Lauderdale, Florida. We arrived (mostly, anyway) on Thursday, Feb 21. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were jam packed with events and then Monday was a bit of a relaxation and ending day because most of us left and flew back home that day.

This post is for Friday. I didn't take any pics at the county park we went kayaking/canoeing in because I am still very protective of my Nikon D40 camera. That baby is not going in a kayak unless I get a waterproof case for it, which won't happen for years.

So Post 1, The Airboat Ride in Everglades Holiday Park!

As a cover pic, the one all of us absolutely love and I have captioned as "They are always watching you!"

First, a short story. So the tourboat guide tells all us riders to keep all arms and legs and heads INSIDE the boat. When we go looking for an alligator, she informs us that it is illegal to feed them, but instead, they feed the pumpkin seed fish bread and the alligators come eat the fish. As she is chucking bread TWO FEET from where I am sitting on the side of the boat, she tells us that a six foot alligator can jump SIX FEET for food in a second. YES, I got awesome pics, while mumbling, "STOP chucking the bread at me! STOP chucking bread at me!"

This is a pretty bird with a white rear and awesome yellow legs

Why, yes, this swamp chicken Great Blue Heron loved posing for pictures.

Look at all my pretty teeth to chomp you with!

A raccoon eats, surrounded by Black and Turkey Vultures

Pretty tall grass and clouds

A cool tree where you can see some water lines

The airboat

And a sign that makes me laugh

Terrific photos! I love the one of the 'gator eyes and the posing 'swamp chicken'. :-)

I also use a Nikon D40. Actually, I keep switching between that and my older D70 - I get so attached to my cameras sometimes it's hard to make a complete break. LOL
